When do tires need to be replaced?
- Tread depth below 2/32 inch - the penny test: insert a penny head-down in the groove; if you can see all of Lincoln's head, the tire is worn out
- Sidewall damage - bulges, bubbles, cuts, or exposed cord (never repairable)
- Punctures in the shoulder, or larger than a standard patch can safely seal
- Cracking and dry rot from age and sun exposure
- Uneven wear that's gone too far - cupping, feathering, or one bald edge
- Age: many manufacturers recommend replacement around six years, worn or not
