"I'd like to give a thank you shout out to Hillside Auto. They got me in first thing in the morning for a diagnostic check when I experienced a major fail on my Lexus RX450h. Since I had to work that day, they ordered a Lyft to take me to Enterprise car rental. Later that day they called to let me know their tests proved inconclusive, but that Lexus had access to more detailed diagnostics. As a testament to their integrity, they did not even charge me for the tests that they ran. I eventually did bring the car to Lexus and even there, it took them two days to diagnose the problem. And an expensive one it was. I ultimately traded the car in for a new one. I so appreciate the honest service at Hillside. They could easily have charged me, not only for the diagnostics, but also for what would have amounted to a temporary fix. Instead, they deferred to dealer servicing and didn't charge a penny. I wholeheartedly endorse them for their honesty and integrity!"

"Went to Hillside Auto for a second opinion after seeing the long list of things the Toyota Dealership gave us, along with a big estimate. Hillside fully inspected my Sequoia and gave me photos of what they found wrong with my car. Half of what Toyota said we had to replace they found nothing wrong with it. The things that we did need to fix were much cheaper at Hillside. Customer service is top notch and they are extremely good at communicating to the customer. A bonus is they pay for your Uber both ways when you drop off and pick up your car!"

"I went in with a flat tire on my car and was looking at replacing it for a little over $100. (Frustrating to hear on tires that were only a few years old but a good deal as replacing tires go). I was already looking for a good, trustworthy shop because my car needs some other work in the near future. On closer inspection, they found my flat tire was caused by a nail stuck in the tire. They plugged the hole for me in about 15 minutes for free. It would not have saved them much time compared to replacing my tire, but they offered to save me the cost of a new tire. Not only that, they washed the outside and vacuumed the inside cleaning my car of a few thousand miles of desert and road mess I hadn't found the time to clean up yet. I couldn't be happier with my experience and will be bringing my car back for its next oil change and future repairs."

First, I dropped my car off before work and they uber'd me to work and made sure I got there on time they had my car ready by lunch time. They uber'd me back to the shop where my car was waiting. Hillside gave me a great price and made my entire experience painless. They vacuum'd my a.c. compressor completely clean and filled it with the proper amount of Freon. "I'm in love with this place. From the friendly atmosphere, the homemade treats for while you wait, all of the testimonials placed on the table.. Lets just say I had a pretty good vibe walking into this place.Back Story - The Low Oil light came on in my Audi. I checked it and the dip stick was bone dry. I went to O'Riley to buy some oil (wasn't leaking - I think I burn a little oil - nothing new in German cars). My TT takes about 6.5 quarts of oil so I purchased 4 quarts total. I put three quarts in and checked the dip stick and I overfilled it by accident. I know not to drive will excess oil because you can ruin the catalytic converter and even flood the cylinders among other things. I called a near by Valvoline to see if they can drain out some oil for me. Liability purposes, they could not. It was about two miles from me so I just decided to get an oil change. They couldn't do that because my car was too low for the little tracks I have to drive over. I was desperate so I took it to a Mum & Pop Jaguar repair shop. The owner wasn't there so they didn't want to help me. He referred me to Hillside which was across the street and said if they cant help you, come back. Went to hillside, probably was there about 20 minutes. They immediately took in my car to take a look and siphoned out the access oil, didn't charge a thing, and sent me on my way. I think I found my new repair shop!Also noticed on their business cards, it states they will bring you home if need be!"

Both repairs were fine experiences ... car repairs are always more expensive than you would like, but they did the job right and I felt well-treated. "I bought a used 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan from a local Toyota dealership for a good price. Since it is a used car, I wanted to get it checked out by an automotive repair shop for an unbiased opinion on the current condition of the car. I took it to Dave Carney's Hillside Auto Repair because I trust Dave and his team to give me a truthful assessment of the car. They are a AAA-Approved auto repair shop and specifically offer a used-car inspection service with an extensive checklist of things they evaluate on the car. They went through the checklist and gave me a report on what they found. The cost of the service was $100, but it was absolutely worth it to get that evaluation. I was pleased and relieved to hear that the current condition was normal for the age and miles on the car, and there was no evidence of any hidden problems (Note: This is just my summary. Their report was more detailed with objective measurements of brake pads and other items.) I highly recommend Hillside Auto Repair as a place where you can get an honest assessment of the current condition of your car."

"Sam was great! I had been to the shop once before when I needed an emergency tow for a previous car (a 1998 Buick) that had broken down unexpectedly. When I got my 2014 Prius as a replacement car, I decided to give The Hybrid Shop a try for a scheduled oil change and replacement brake pads. Sam was able to squeeze me in between appointments and gave me great advice on how to take full advantage of my extended warranty that I purchased when I bought my car through Autonation. He also offered Uber rides back to and from my house to pick up the car, which was totally convenient and very much appreciated. Very honest, respectful and very professional service! "We absolutely adored this repair shop. The owner Dave is super nice and has a friendly smile too. The customers are friendly too as well as all of the employees. They go above and beyond to please their customers. We have this Honda civic that needs to have the air conditioner charged every so often. They gave it a charge and it's nice and cold now. Dave even called and left us a message to make sure it was still cold since sometimes they can leak. No problems with it. We are very pleased and this is going to be our new repair shop for our car. "I went in with a nail in my tire which could not be patched. Mike was very honest with his evaluation of my tire. Charlie quickly let me know that they had my tire in stock. I told him I had 30 minutes because I had to pick up my daughter. He had it done in 25. Morgan was very pleasant and gave me a bottle of water while I waited. "I went to Hillside Auto Repair for the first time to have my brake fluid replaced. I made an appointment ahead of time. When I got there, they took my car right away. Mike helped me, and he is a very nice and courteous person. The business is very clean (which is hard for an auto shop) and the employees all seemed very happy to be there. "I've always had a good experience with Hillside. I've been taking my cars there since moving to the PV area in 2004. The Carney's are great people and hire people that are an extension of their family serving the community. Always honest, fair and courteous. Yesterday I had a really great Hillside experience. I called to get my brakes checked. Hillside replaced my brakes the year before last and they had been squeaking for the past couple of months. I was convinced that I was in need of new brakes again, but when they checked it. They saw the brakes were not in need of replacing, but did hear the squeaking. They ended up replacing the squeaking brakes with new brakes at no additional cost because they were still considered under warranty. Not many mechanics would do it at no additional cost, but Hillside did because they stand behind their work - even if it was a couple of years ago! "For 4 years, since I bought my car at Santa Monica Subaru, I've been taking it there for service, i.e., per their maintenance schedule. Recently, SM Subaru shut down without warning, leaving me high and dry, not cool. But....as it turns out, it was a blessing in disguise. A Yelp search brought me to Hillside Automotive. I read that they've been voted South Bay's Best Auto Repair Shop.....3 years in a row! Wow. And it's a 10-15 minute drive from my home, as opposed to going all the way to SaMo. Life is good! hahaha So yesterday I met Dave Carney, the owner (see photos). My car needed brakes (I kinda knew that) and Dave explained all about brakes to me, all the technical stuff I never knew. I ate muffins in the waiting room, that had been baked by his wife, as my car's condition was assessed.....and that waiting area is as cute as the previous reviewer described (see photos). "Being the busy mother of an autistic kid when I had the engine light in my car come on I kind of dreaded having to take it in to be looked up because often it means hanging around waiting and not getting much done elsewhere, however, when I came across Hillside auto Sam was extremely helpful and considerate of my situation. "Hillside Auto Repair is an example of how a business should be run Dave has a very simple business model and it works !!! Respect the customer ,Charge a fair price and Stand behind your work. The entire team follows this mission statement and to verify this all you have to do is take a seat in the clean and comfortable waiting area and listen to reports and exchanges between the service advisors and customers when they come to pickup their cars. As a tradesman I can appreciate the clean and organized service bays . The garage lead is great she keeps the advisors status on all the work going in the bays so the techs don't have to be interrupted which in turn allows for good production. As anew customer they received me with so much kindness waiving first visit fees completely and breaking down the options of what and how they could assist. I was so thankful with their service. Once for a fan noise (it was hitting something on morning startups only and took a few attempts to reproduce) and then for a failing ignition coil and 90K tuneup. "So far so good! I pass by Hillside everyday. My usual mechanic started to get lazy. Everyone who knows me is aware that Chuck/my 2003 Ford Ranger truck is my baby. So the moment the other mechanic told me that there is going to be a lot of work that is going to be done, it was time for me to find my baby a new doctor for yearly maintenance. Mechanics are in the profession to repair and fix cars right? I've been taking of Chuck for years and even though he's a senior citizen, he's a great truck! He's over 222,000 miles and 13 years old. Old Chuck is still going and he's getting better fairly soon so we can both go up to Mammoth and play throughout all 4 seasons. Dave put him through a good and thorough physical and check up. We put Chuck on a good health plan and he filled out a prescription sheet. Everything I expected was on the medical record and all within my expected budget with labor and tax. My favorite part is that he called and emailed me to notify me of Chuck's status. EMAILED ME!!! Yeah! So, Phase 1 for check up is a Check mark, Phase 2 and 3 to get him new boots (tires) and inhalers for his asthma is coming up next. I can't wait to update everyone on how things go.
