Hillside Auto Repair ("we," "us") runs this website, hillsideautorepair.com. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site or contact the shop, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language on purpose.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you book an appointment, use a contact form, call, or email the shop, we receive what you send: typically your name, phone number, email address, your vehicle's year, make, model, and VIN, and whatever you tell us about the work you need. If you become a customer, we also keep normal repair records - estimates, approvals, invoices, service history, and warranty records for your vehicle. If you pay by card at the shop, payment runs through our card processor; we do not keep full card numbers. Please do not put card numbers in the website's booking or contact forms.
Call information. Any call to our shop might be recorded, for quality assurance and marketing analytics purposes. If you call a phone number shown in one of our online ads, the call may connect through a Google forwarding number; Google then reports the call to us for advertising measurement: the caller's number, the date and time, and how long the call lasted. When Google records one of these ad calls, a short automated notice plays at the start of the call.
Information collected automatically. The site uses cookies and similar technologies from Google to measure advertising - for example, whether a visit from an ad led to a booking. This involves technical data such as the pages you visit, your IP address, browser and device information, and ad-click identifiers. We do not use this site to build profiles of you; the measurement tells us whether our advertising works. We do not use remarketing or interest-based advertising that follows you to other websites. Google may collect information about interactions with its advertising over time and across websites under its own privacy practices; you can manage Google's ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
Maps and optional location. On a request-confirmation page, you may enter a starting point or destination, or choose your browser's location, to plan a route. When you show a route, your starting point or destination is sent to Google Maps. Hillside does not receive or save it, and it is not added to your appointment request. If you open Apple Maps, route data is sent to Apple. Hillside uses an optional browser location only in memory to prepare the route and does not save it.
Spam protection. The Contact form uses hCaptcha to decide whether a submission meets the site's security requirements. hCaptcha processes technical and interaction information for that purpose. Hillside uses the result only to protect the form from automated abuse.
When you submit a request form, the contact details you provide may be shared with Google in hashed form to measure advertising conversions.
How we use it
We use your information to schedule and perform repair work, respond when you contact us, keep required business and service records (things like invoices and warranty history, including administration of our 2-year / 24,000-mile repair warranty), measure our advertising, and meet legal obligations. That is it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to other businesses for their own marketing. We share information only with service providers who help us operate:
- Web3Forms, which delivers website form submissions to our inbox. Its privacy policy is at web3forms.com/privacy.
- hCaptcha, provided by Intuition Machines, Inc., which helps protect the Contact form from automated abuse. Its privacy policy is at hcaptcha.com/privacy and its terms are at hcaptcha.com/terms.
- Google, which provides the advertising measurement, forwarding numbers, call recording, and optional Google Maps trip planning described above. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Apple, when you choose to open an Apple Maps route. Apple's privacy policy is at apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Providers we use in the ordinary course of running the shop, such as our card processor, our scheduling and records systems, and our email.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers, or the public. If the business is ever sold or merged, customer and service records transfer with it as part of the business.
Cookies and your browser
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them, though advertising measurement becomes less accurate. Like most websites, this site does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We may need to keep certain records even after a deletion request - for example, invoices and warranty records that the law or our warranty obligations require us to retain. We will never treat you differently for making a request.
How long we keep information
We keep repair and service records as long as we need them for warranty coverage, business records, and legal requirements. We keep advertising measurement data only as long as it is useful for evaluating our advertising.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No website or system can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Children
This site is for people seeking auto repair. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. Meaningful changes get a clear note at the top of this page for 30 days.
