I always get paranoid that auto mechanics might try to overcharge me or con me into doing unnecessary repairs, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found the mechanics at Hillside Auto to be honest about what I really needed done and they repaired my car under the estimated cost. The staff were pleasant and gave me a courtesy ride home, and they even repaired my car well ahead of schedule after I told them I was supposed to leave town early. The staff even cleaned my car a courtesy! I will probably bring my car back to this mechanic again if I am in the area.
Al, Thank you for your inquiry about supplying your own parts. The short answer to your question is no, we do not install customer supplied parts nor do most repairs shops. The important thing is for you to know and have the reasons why. There are actually several reasons. In the world of auto parts there is a huge difference in the quality of parts in the marketplace. There can even be a significant difference in the quality of parts manufactured by the same manufacturer. When you purchase an auto part based on price, often it is the quality that is compromised. Although from the first glance from you?re perspective it may appear to be a money saving plan, in reality it is not.The second reason is the lack of a warranty on customer supplied parts. One of the most important elements of the repair process is the warranty. A small percentage of all auto parts will either come defective or will become defective during the warranty period. There is no way we can warranty a part unless we have purchased it from a known reputable vendor and even then, there always exits the possibility that some of those parts will fail. We are careful to only purchase OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts that meet or exceed the original specifications of the original part. By following these business practices, we are able to provide a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty on our repairs, which is twice the industry standard of 1 year or 12, 0000 miles.Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this for you.Dave Carney
