With 27 years of experience, Sergio has seen many changes in automotive technology. During the 1980’s and 1990’s, when car engines became increasingly reliant upon computers, Sergio eagerly enrolled in classes to update his skills. His passion for learning continues to this day. “The new designs, the new systems are very interesting.”
He’s worked at Hillside for seven years and enjoys “diagnostics… figuring out problems”. He has a special interest in brakes and suspensions. “Their condition is very important.”
Married for 40 years, Sergio describes his wife as “a good person… she’s working hard for our kids, she’s working hard for me.” They have two sons and two daughters, and a 10-year-old grandson.
Sergio stressed the value of education while his children were growing up. “I push it. School is important; study. You have to learn something in this life. If you don’t, then life is more difficult.” He’s thankful that they’ve launched their careers.
When he’s not working, Sergio and his wife are very involved with church activities, including visits to hospitals and jails. He also enjoys playing baseball.
