A Few Drops One Day Keeps the Mouse Away...Posted on: 06, February, 2017
Okay, we've taken liberties with that old adage, and but we wanted a fun way to share a tip with you if you have problems with rodents in your garage or where you park your automobile.
One day, one of our wonderful customers was driving home and began parking her van. But when she stepped on the brake, the pedal didn't resist - it kept going down!
Fortunately, she had the presence of mind to use her emergency brake and was able to stop her van. Whew! That really shook her up.
The next day, she had her van towed to Hillside Auto Repair in Torrance. We found that a rodent had chewed through her brake line and the brake fluid had drained out while she was driving.
After replacing the brake line, we put a few drops of peppermint oil in strategic places on the engine.
A rodent will typically go back to their "home" they've created in your warm auto engine. They can trace their way back, so they may chew another hose or cable when their teeth need resharpening.
The peppermint smell creates a burning sensation in rodent's sinuses so they'll avoid it. Just be sure to not to add it to the vents near the windshield or you'll be blessed by the scent of peppermint as well.
